The fall issue of byFaith magazine has a new essay on the question of character — it was near impossible to find something new to say about one of the oldest questions in the book, but I’m grateful to the editors for letting me try.

Reading at Old Metairie on November 4
I’m delighted to support poet and novelist Jonathan Kline this coming weekend as he reads from his new novella, Standing at the Gate. Poets Martha McFerrin and Sean Munro will be joining the reading as well, which will take place at 2pm at the Old Metairie Library, 2350 Metairie Road. Free and open to all!
Louisiana Book Festival
The Louisiana Book Festival is this weekend! Enough said — see you there!
Lunch Poems on Dolphin Radio
Delighted to be included on Sean Munro’s weekly radio broadcast this Wednesday, Lunch Poems, aired on Dolphin Radio. So many wonderful poets are part of the set list, it’s hard to know where to start: Daniel WK Lee, Carolyn Hembree, Nikki Ummel, Daniel Saudade Lee, and more! My poem ‘Gravitron 3000,’ which first appeared in the Southern Review in 2018, will be re-broadcast; if you miss the live show you can always listen to the stream. Bound to be a great set (and well worth tuning in each week — the sets are always expertly curated).
Poetry Buffet Anthology reading
There’s a very special edition of the monthly Poetry Buffet this coming weekend: the launch for the new anthology of the series, edited by Gina Ferrara and Geoff Munsterman. Dozens of poets represented in the book will be reading their contribution; I’ll be reading the poem ‘Lies We Tell Tourists,’ which, while written overseas, only became a poem about New Orleans retroactively. But it fits.
The reading is at 2pm as always at the Latter Branch — see you there.
